At My Bail Bonds, we understand that finding yourself or a loved one in need of a bail bond can be one of the most stressful experiences of your life. This is why it is so important that you have a bonds company that you can trust, who provide a dignified, professional, honest and efficient service. We pride ourselves in getting you through a difficult period as easily as possible. To this end, here is a short article providing all the basic information you should know if you find yourself requiring our services.
First of all, it’s important to not that a bail bond is not the same as bail itself. They can be set at two different prices, because a bond is designed to guarantee a defendant’s appearance in court, whereas bail can be paid directly to jail in order to release the imprisoned party.
Before we can help you, your friend or your loved one meet bail, there are a few pieces of information you’ll need to give us. We’ll need the name of the jail, and if necessary the city and state it is located in, where the individual is incarcerated. We’ll need the full name of the person who requires bail, and it helps if you know their booking number as well, though we can find this out ourselves if necessary. If you could let us know how much the individual’s bail is that would also be very helpful and speed the process along, though again we can research this ourselves if you don’t know. Finally, when coming to visit us, you should bring two forms of identification as well as two current pay stubs and proof of address.
We will submit the fee necessary to release someone from prison on bail, and charge a fee of 10% of the amount of money the bail itself is set at. We will then take out a security against the defendant’s assets to cover the cost of this payment. If the defendant does not have enough to cover the cost, a friend or family member can contribute assets as well. You may have to submit collateral, in the form of cash, property, savings or a business, in order to guarantee the defendant’s appearance in court. To get those back after the conclusion of the case, you simply return to the court where it took place and obtain a Certificate of Disposition.
While every case is different, hopefully the information on this page will help you or a person you care about get through the bail process in as pain free a manner as possible. If you have any other questions, please do no hesitate to get in touch, and we will try and respond to your query as quickly and clearly as possible.
